The 55-acre botanical garden is operated by Horticulture Department, Government of Tamilnadu.The garden with its terraced layout is parted into several sections on the lower slopes of Doddabetta peak.It is gifted with its temperate climate.During November to February, it receives an average rainfall of 140 cm on its south-west monsoon nights.
NILGIRI MOUNTAIN RAILWAY(NMR)
One of the UNESCO world heritage sites which have a length of 49 km was built by British in the year 1908.During the era of modern inventions, the railway now too runs by steam locomotives.NMR was initially operated by Madras railway but it now comes under the jurisdiction of Salem division which formed latest.

The highest mountain in the Nilgiri hills is surrounded by a reserved forest which is at a height of 2637 metres(8650 feet).Doddabetta, the fourth highest peak in South India is 9 km from Ooty, on the Ooty-Kotagiri road in the Nilgiris district on Tamilnadu.It is one of the favourite destinations as it has better road access to it.The observatory situated top to Doddabetta offers two telescopes to viewers.
The artificial lake constructed by John Sullivan in the year 1824 has an area of 65 acres.It is one of the major tourist attractions as it offers boating service to tourists by the boathouse situated.Groves of Eucalyptus trees surround the lake, also a railway line running to one of the shores make it different.In the month of May boat races and boat, pageantry is organised during those summer days.
